The Starfish Story

Every day hundreds of starfish washed up on the beach and every day an old man picked them up. One by one, he threw as many as he could back out into the ocean.

One day, a young boy who’d been watching him asked ‘Why do you bother to throw the starfish back? There must be thousands of beaches and millions of starfish. Surely, it won’t make a difference?’

As the old man threw yet another back into the water, he simply responded…

​

‘It makes a difference to that one’.
